There are 5 main steps which are important in choosing your new Riser Chair
1. What weight are you ?
This has a bearing on which chair will be appropriate for you, but does not generally reduce your options for other choices.
2. What size of chair do you require?
This is critical as a poorly fitting chair can be uncomfortable at best and even damaging to your health at worst. It is important to assess & measure for a chair correctly. This can be carried out by yourself but is best done by a trained advisor. All Oakham Mobility assessors are properly trained in this. If you are unsure what is required or would like some guidance please contact us to discuss.
3. What Mechanism do you need ?
There are numerous actions now available on all made to measure chairs. This basically controls how the chair will move when reclining or raising you and whilst this does seem basic it is important to understand how this will feel for you. Additionally it may have an impact on how much space you need in your room? please see our guide to actions on the main Riser page or call to discuss with one of our advisors.
Please click through to our "Actions Explained Guide" which shows you how the actions move and benefits of each.
4. Which Fabric would you like?
This subject is mainly about personal choice and there is an enormous range to choose from. However if you need to cater for incontinence, pressure care issues or the chair will be used in a care home, you may need to consider this more carefully. We would always advise that in these cases or if you are unsure, that you call us to discus.
